STORY NOTES- This episode deals with what would have happened if Donna had never met the Doctor, or if she had never chosen to travel with him. So it's set in a different time line [maybe explains why Rose is wearing the same clothes she was wearing in Partners In Crime]. So Racnoss, Judoon Invasion and Professor Lazarus all happen again in this episode, but with different consequences.
- In the next time trailer after Midnight, we see the Doctor is dead (or is he???) as a U.N.I.T soldier [looking suspiciosuly similar to Commander Harris from Sontarem Stratagem and The Poison Sky [does this mean that never happened, or at least hasn't happened yet?] He speaks into his walkie talkie stating 'Found a body, sir. The Doctor is dead'. The Doctor's hand is then shown from falling out from underneath a red blanket as he is carted off on a stretcher. (he is also wearing his 'unlucky black suit' [From looking at the exclusive clip from the Doctor Who website, it is actually from when he fought a 'red spider' [only red spider he has fought is the Racnoss, it also mentions Thames flood barrier] So, if he dies here, does this mean that Martha is no longer with us, or at some point, will die? Smith and Jones happened after this. With no Doctor to save the hospital, did she suffocate or was she shot by a Judoon?
- This is the first story to feature Rose in the capacity of 'companion' since Doomsday
- Lucius Pextrus Dextrus [Fires of Pompeii] states that 'she is returning' while he is looking into the future. This could be a reference to Rose, however if Harriet Jones is also returning, although it is unlikely he could have meant her.
- Chipo Chung was last seen as Chantho in Utopia, she returns, but this time in Human form! (supposedly as Captain Magambo)
- As said before, this is the Doctor lite episode [Blink, Love and Monsters], but with a much MUCH bigger and darker storyline
- A reference to something on Donna's back was last heard in Fire's of Pompeii [again stated by Lucius Pextrus Dextrus]. This is a back story arc as it hasn't been mentioned since.
- In DWM [Doctor Who Magazine] Donna recieves a free tarot card reading and will find out something bad is going to happen. When she is recieving it there will also be something behind her, lurking in the curtains. The tarot person will also look for a specific event in Donna's past [Runaway Bride??]
- Part of this episdoe was filmed in China Town, but a replicated version in Cardiff, and not the one in London.
Rumours
- Davros may be seen in the last few minutes of this episode
- Rose is able to cross worlds because the Torchwood on her universe has developed the technology
- Harriet Jones will appear in this episode or the next, most likely because in this time line was was never suceeded by Harold Saxon
- DWM also states that Rose might not be on Donna's side to start with. She may have her new worlds interest at heart
- We see flashbacks of Donna before Runaway Bride
- The thing on Donna's back is a Time Beetle
- Maybe, Rose appears to Donna as a dream and guides her, as the Doctor did in Doomsday to her world [there are pictures of Rose on a beach [not specifically Bad Wolf Bay] However there are pictures of the Doctor, Donna, Rose and the TARDIS, so this is unlikely]
- The mastermind of the ill fate that happens to Donna in this episode will be familiar to fans of one of the Doctor Who spinoff shows [Torchwood. There have been references to the Darkness, in series one there were many references to 'something coming out off the darkness'. Whether this has been interlinked with the Story Arc for Doctor Who is questionnable, or it could have been referring to Abaddon. However, although Abaddon has been defeated there have been references to the Darkness in series 2. Sarah Jane Smith, the only monster I can think of that I know has been in both DW and SJA is the Slitheen, as being seventeen, I don't usually watch SJA. But Somehow I don't think the Slitheen can pull off something as big as this...]
